Break — Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 3, 2026

Break ("the app") is a files-and-notes organizer for Android, published by Deha Demirhan. This policy explains what data Break handles. The short version: everything stays on your device, and we collect nothing.

Data we collect

None. Break has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting SDKs, and no servers of its own. The app never transmits your files, notes, images, passwords, or any usage information anywhere.

Where your content lives

Everything stays on your device, but in two different places, and the difference matters if you ever uninstall Break.

Your files live in a folder you choose yourself — Documents, or anywhere else you like. You grant Break access to that folder through Android's own folder picker. They are ordinary files with their real names, readable by any file manager, and they stay there if you uninstall Break.

Your notes, note images and settings are stored in Break's private storage on your device, and Android removes those when you uninstall the app. You can save any note out as a plain text file first if you want to keep it.

If you share a file from Break, it goes only to the app you choose in the Android share dialog.

Folder lock

You can lock a folder with a password. Break then encrypts the contents of the files inside it on your device, using AES-GCM with a key derived from your password. The file names stay visible to other apps — only what is inside the files is protected.

The password itself is never stored in readable form. Break keeps only a cryptographic verifier on your device, and it is never transmitted. Because the password is not stored, nobody — including the developer — can recover it or open a locked folder without it.

Permissions

Break requests no runtime permissions at all. Access to your chosen folder is granted by you, per folder, through Android's own folder picker, and importing individual files uses the system file picker. Break does not read your storage in the background.

Break does not even hold the internet permission, so it is not technically capable of sending your data anywhere.

Children

Break is intended for users aged 13 and over. Since no data is collected from anyone, no data is collected from children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Break ever adds an online feature (such as optional cloud backup), this policy will be updated first and the change will be noted in the app's update notes.
